Adelisa “Addy” Rose Johnson Obituary: Jacksonville High School mourn the loss of student killed in Morgan County crash

Jacksonville, IL — The Jacksonville community is mourning the tragic loss of Adelisa “Addy” Rose Johnson, a 15-year-old sophomore at Jacksonville High School, who was killed Friday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Morgan County that also left three others injured.

According to the Morgan County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred around 6:00 p.m. near the intersection of Mt. Zion Road and Gravel Springs Road. Officials reported that a vehicle traveling east left the roadway for reasons still under investigation and subsequently rolled.

The coroner confirmed that Johnson, who was a back-seat passenger in the vehicle, was ejected during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. Her death has sent shockwaves through her school and the broader Jacksonville community.

The conditions of the three other individuals involved in the crash have not been publicly released. Authorities have not provided additional details regarding their injuries or identities at this time.

She will be greatly missed by students and staff,” Ptacek said in a Facebook post. “On behalf of the staff, board, and student body, I offer sincere condolences to Addy’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

In response to the tragedy, the school district announced that counselors, social workers, and psychologists will be available to support students, staff, and families affected by the loss. District officials emphasized the importance of providing emotional support as the school community navigates its grief.
